Under Section 164 of the National Defense Authorization Act, DoD and federal projects are prohibited from using restricted LiDAR technology. Effective June 30, 2026, the U.S. government restricts the procurement and operation of LiDAR sensors manufactured by specific foreign entities (including Hesai Technology, RoboSense, and DJI components).
